Customs inspects cargo flows that come into, leave, ore are being transit the Netherlands – and with this also the area of the European Union. The airports and seaports are the boundaries of the European Union and therefore the Groningen Seaports are part of the Customs working area. Groningen Seaports works close together with customs. Before everything, the Groningen Seaports have to be safe ports for incoming vessels. Both ports host a Customs establishment.
