Port of Delfzijl - Zeehavenkanaal

The Zeehavenkanaal, the eastern part of the outer harbour, has been developed as a deepsea harbour. Vessels proceeding through the harbour entrance arrive directly in the Zeehavenkanaal. Going westwards, the Zeehavenkanaal gradually narrows.
Navigable width is 100 metres throughout in a westerly direction, with the exception of a small part off the Akzo Nobel bulk salt terminal where the width is 80 metres.
All vessels navigating Zeehavenkanaal have right of way over vessels coming from the access channel to the sea locks.
Major port industries have private mooring facilities in the Zeehavenkanaal area. These jetties and berths are located along the Zeehavenkanaal in such a way that the channel width of 100 metres, except near the Akzo jetty, is not affected.

    Eemshaven - Doekegatkanaal (entrance)

At present, the Eemshaven is accessible for vessels with an operational draft up to 10.50 metres, under normal HW conditions. Future dredging will enable vessels with a draft of 13 metres to use the port.
The distance between the two moles is 470 metres. The bottom-width is 200 metres with an initial depth of NAP -12 metres.
At the western mole, a green fixed light and at the eastern mole a red fixed light have been erected on steel structures.

The Doekegatkanaal has a width at the entrance of 325 metres (bottom-width 200 metres) and a length of 2,100 metres.
