Eemshaven - RoRo Area

The RoRo Area offers facilities for the storage and transhipment of rolling material. The terminal conforms to the requirements of the ISO 6812 standard for roll on/roll off ships-to-store connection. The hydraulically RoRo bridge has been developed to load & unload vessels quick and efficient. The bridge has three lanes; vehicles can drive on and off the ship simultaneously.

Infrastructure

The RoRo Area is located at the west end of the Julianahaven in the Eemshaven with a direct connection to the open sea (Eems). The site hosts a railway connection for multimodal transports and it has a direct connection with the congestion free auto way N46 (Eemshaven-Groningen).

Operating features

1. The ramp:
- operated hydraulically
- length : approx. 35 metres
- width : approx. 20 metres
- headroom : approx. 10 metres
- load : reach-stacker 100 tonnes
: project cargo up to 300 tonnes
- maximum gradient : 10 degrees
- the whole structure is protected by a fender beam.

2. Terminal site:
- total area 12 hectares, of which 2 hectares free lane and 10 hectares storage and marshalling site
- type of surfacing: clinker paving
- immediately behind the bridge exit a so-called free lane has been constructed; this is intended as a public access road
- the site behind the RoRo bridge partly has been designed for heavy leads, such as reach stackers and heavy fork-lift trucks, for the handling of containers and intensive freight traffic
- the whole is equipped with an excellent lighting plan
- the site is equipped with reefer plugs and a water supply for shipping and is completely fenced.

3. Ships:
- maximum ship size: l x w x d = 175 x 25 x 9.5 metres
- contract depth of the berth: NAP -14.00 metres; dredging can be carried out to a greater depth if necessary
- mooring facility: 5 dolphins, 1 storm dolphin
- the berth can be made suitable for longer ships
