Work on the SME offshore site about to start

Work on the SME offshore site about to start

In April the preparatory work will start for making the SME offshore site at Emmahaven, one of the port basins of Eemshaven, ready for use. A road will be built, and the area will get the relevant infrastructure, such as sewers and mains services. According to the schedule, the work will be completed by the building industry holiday this year, after which WP Offshore can start the new build at its location.

WP Offshore
On the site of 3,200 m2, beside the current Gulf branch, WP Offshore will build an office with a workshop for minor repair work. The rest of the terrain will be fitted out for the storage of materials for the offshore wind industry. WP Offshore has opted for new build at this location because of its excellent situation in respect of the offshore wind farms in the North Sea, in particular in the German Bight. Eemshaven also meets all the maritime requirements for an offshore wind facility.

Interest
It had been announced earlier that TenneT Offshore has also chosen Eemshaven for the construction of a maintenance location. Increasingly, SME offshore activities are also developed on existing business sites. In addition, there is more interest among maintenance and service companies in the offshore wind industry to set up their business in Eemshaven.
