Business sites

With approximately 600 hectares of land available in both port areas there is certainly plenty of space for you to get down to business. About 365 hectares are available in Delfzijl and around 232 in Eemshaven. Eemshaven and the port of Delfzijl form a flourishing port and industrial area with all kinds of large and medium-sized companies, where chemical or circular economic activities take centre stage in Delfzijl and energy, data and offshore wind predominate in Eemshaven.

There are also plenty of locations available for suppliers and small and medium-sized enterprises. Not only in the port areas of Delfzijl or Eemshaven itself, like De Delta, MKB Park Eemshaven, Farmsumerpoort or former terp village Weiwerd but also, for example, at the Fivelpoort industrial park in Appingedam, at Groningen Railport in Veendam or several other locations in the municipalities of Eemsdelta and Het Hogeland.

Businesspark Fivelpoort

Fivelpoort Industrial Site is a sustainable and high-quality 45 hectare SME site for companies in the service sector and small-scale industry. Fivelpoort makes a strong contribution to a healthy region, both economically and socially, but with its head and its heart! Brainwierde Weiwerd

The former terp village of Weiwerd is being transformed into a knowledge-intensive business park: Brainwierde Weiwerd. This is a shining example of an intelligent rezoning of an archaeological monument. A paragon of industrial innovation. The cultural-historical values form an important starting point in developing into a knowledge-intensive business park. The still intact radial structure is being completely maintained and even accentuated. But existing commercial buildings will also be preserved and the archaeological value of the terp will be taken into account when new buildings are built.

Brainwierde Weiwerd has 23 unique plots and four existing buildings, each with its own history and identity. A parcel passport has been compiled for each parcel. In a technical constructional sense, the parcel passport indicates the properties and preconditions of a specific parcel.

Business park Farmsumerpoort

Farmsumerpoort is a fully developed business park in the immediate vicinity of industry and the port of Delfzijl and has access on both sides to the Eemskanaal, a major canal in the Dutch inland shipping network. The business park offers accommodation for service companies operating in the logistics and service sector, for example.

Farmsumerpoort is ideally located close to major industries and just a stone’s throw from Delfzijl’s seaport and inner harbour. Farmsumerpoort offers direct connections by road, sea and inland waterway. Its location makes it possible for new companies to establish themselves close to their customers or suppliers and take full advantage of the excellent infrastructure and business synergy. The 88-hectare site is already home to various trading and service companies, such as Agrifirm, HTG, Merema, Wijnne Barends and J. Wildeman Storage & Logistics. And… there are still about 15 hectares of land available for new business activities. Farmsumerpoort has environmental classification 1-4 and plots are for sale or available under long lease.

Groningen Railport

Groningen Railport in Veendam is one of the Netherlands’ biggest inland rail terminals. Groningen Railport is a tri-modal terminal (accessible by rail, road and water) and processes both containers and conventional cargoes. Groningen Railport provides a total logistics service to shipping companies and transport companies alike.

Groningen Railport is especially important for containers as a logistics hub between the main ports in the west (Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Antwerp) and the north (Bremen, Hamburg). Groningen Railport is also connected to the European timetable for conventional rail transport. Together with Groningen’s sea ports – Eemshaven and Delfzijl – and the city of Groningen itself, Groningen Railport provides a complete northern logistics system.
