EcoPorts

EcoPorts

The primary purpose of Groningen Seaports is to support and strengthen economic activity in the ports and the Eems Delta region. The organisation does however do this within certain conditions, since we are very much aware that we operate on the edge of an exceptionally vulnerable world heritage. Corporate social responsibility is a very important principle in all of our activities and is enshrined in the mission of Groningen Seaports. We take this subject extremely seriously and have translated it in numerous ways into a mature sustainability policy around the concept of People, Planet, Profit. Sustainability is expressed first and foremost in our environmental policy plan.

Our sustainability efforts are also reflected in practical terms in the policy concerning EcoPorts certification. Groningen Seaports was awarded the EcoPorts certificate for the sixth consecutive time in 2018. Receiving this sustainability designation is anything but a matter of course: it is reissued only if the organisation makes demonstrable progress in the area of the environment and sustainability.
