Attractive location for startups and scale-ups

Ambitious startups and scale-ups are important for a region’s economic development. They create dynamism and innovation, and attract talented people, often with a technological slant.

Groningen Seaports therefore works hard on making itself an attractive location for new companies of this kind that have a lot of ambition and the potential for rapid growth. Delfzijl and Eemshaven offer all the ingredients needed to help startups and scale-ups get off to a good start and undergo long-term and successful development.

There are easily accessible places with facilities, a pleasant living environment and opportunities for easy scaling up, with a minimum of red tape. Also, a lot of support is provided by large companies in the region, allowing us to offer a close-knit community, something that is important for startups to grow. Moreover, large companies are increasingly outsourcing their Research & Development to startups and scale ups. Also in the Eems Delta.

Not least owing to the supply of pilot and demo facilities, the port area of Delfzijl and Eemshaven is ideally suited for the startup sector. The chemical companies Avantium and Photanol, for example, have already started two pilot plants on the Nouryon (formerly AkzoNobel) site, and there are also places available at other industrial sites for laboratories or a demo plant. The area also offers various shared buildings with offices and the option of flexible workplaces.

Partners

An innovation ecosystem cannot do without strong partners. That’s why we’re always pleased to link up our customers to Groningen Innovation Port.

We do this by mentioning the company name with the logo of the partners of our initiative below and by mutually agreeing to actively inform the relevant partners if we have any interesting innovations, such as ideas contributed by start-ups. The partners then decide for themselves whether to get in touch with these parties. We believe that it is important to show on our website which companies are open to innovative parties.

De partners bepalen vervolgens zelf of ze behoefte hebben met deze partijen in contact te komen. We vinden het belangrijk om op onze website te vermelden welke bedrijven openstaan voor innovatieve partijen.
