The Oosterhornhaven is an industrial inner harbour with an open connection to the Eemskanaal. The harbour is about 5 kilometres long with a navigable width of 60-90 metres and a draught of 5 metres.

Vessels navigating the Oosterhornhaven must pass the Weiwerderbrug drawbridge, which has a clearance of 14 metres. There is a second bridge, the Heemskesbrug, near the aluminium plant. The Oosterhornhaven is also accessible for smaller seagoing vessels. The maximum dimensions of seagoing vessels to enter the Oosterhornhaven are 90 x 13 metres with a draught of 5 metres.

The maximum berth length for seagoing vessels is 90 metres and for inland vessels is 110 metres. In the Oosterhornhaven several public and private mooring facilities like quays and jetties are available.
