Sea locks

The outer and inner harbour sections in Delfzijl are connected via the locks in the Eemskanaal. The sea locks operate 24 hours a day. To reach the inner harbour vessels need to pass the locks.

There are two. The smaller western lock is maximum 123 metres long, has a width of 7 metres and a depth inside of 2.40 metres. The larger eastern lock is 120 metres long, has a width of 16 metres and a depth of 5,45 metres. Vessels navigating through the locks to the Eemskanaal. This canal has a depth of 5 metres and vessels with a maximum length of 144 metres are allowed to sail here. The Eemskanaal has an open connection with the Oosterhornhaven.
