Sites

There are still sites available in both port areas for new businesses, expansions of existing businesses, and new initiatives. Groningen Seaports focuses mainly on businesses in the energy, data, and offshore wind sectors in Eemshaven and on the chemical sector and circular economy in Delfzijl.

There are also locations available for suppliers and small and medium-sized enterprises. Not just in the port areas of Delfzijl or Eemshaven, such as De Delta, MKB Park Eemshaven, Farmsumerpoort or the former terp village Weiwerd, but also at the business park Fivelpoort in Appingedam, at Groningen Railport in Veendam, or at various sites in the Eemsdelta and Het Hogeland councils.

Business park Fivelpoort

Business park Fivelpoort is a sustainable and high-end business park of 45 hectares for entrepreneurs with courage, creativity, and innovation. Fivelpoort is in the middle of an area that is full of creative developments in the area of chemistry, energy, data, earthquake-resistant and energy-neutral construction, and the circular economy. The site has been heated and cooled with thermal energy for more than 10 years, and that makes Fivelpoort independent of gas for the same period. The business park is situated in Appingedam on the N33, and it literally is the gate to the port areas of Delfzijl and Eemshaven.

Business park Farmsumerpoort

Farmsumerpoort is a fully developed business park in the immediate vicinity of industry and the port of Delfzijl and has access on both sides to the Eemskanaal, a major canal in the Dutch inland shipping network. The business park offers premises for service companies operating in the logistics and service sector, for example.

Farmsumerpoort is ideally located close to major industries and just a stone’s throw from Delfzijl’s seaport and inner harbour. Farmsumerpoort offers direct connections by road, sea, and inland waterway. Its location makes it possible for new companies to establish themselves close to their clients or suppliers and take full advantage of the excellent infrastructure and business synergies. The 88-hectare site is already home to a wide range of trading and service companies, such as Agrifirm, HTG, Merema, Wijnne Barends, and J. Wildeman Storage & Logistics. And… there is still space available for new business activities. The environmental classification at Farmsumerpoort is 1- 4.

Business park Weiwerd

The former terp village of Weiwerd has been transformed into a business park: Wierde Weiwerd. This is a shining example of intelligent rezoning of an archaeological monument. A paragon of industrial innovation. The cultural-historical values form an important starting point in developing into a knowledge-intensive business park. The still intact radial structure has been retained completely and has even been accentuated. Existing business premises will be preserved and the archaeological value of the terp will be taken into account when new buildings are built.

Weiwerd has 23 unique plots and four existing buildings, each with their own history and identity. A plot passport has been compiled for each plot. In a technical constructional sense, the plot passport indicates the properties and preconditions of a specific plot.

Business park De Delta

Business park De Delta is an SME site in the centre of the Delfzijl industrial area at a scenic location off the Delfzijl – Winschoten trunk road (N362). The park is surrounded by water on nearly all sides, giving it a unique position. The park is extremely suitable for suppliers to the chemical and metallurgical sector and for industrial service providers. The construction took account of green zones, safety, and a comfortable infrastructure. At the 4.9 hectares of the De Delta, the environmental classification is 5.3.
