Seaports Academy

Harbour of Talent

Groningen Seaports has worked together with education and research for many years. Many students have spent their graduation project on topics that are important to the development of ports and industry. To strengthen this cooperation, Groningen Seaports founded the Seaports Academy.

Together with vocational education courses, universities of applied sciences, universities and businesses, the academy is active in energy transition, offshore wind, the circular economy, hydrogen, and the digitisation of ports and shipping in particular. These are complex subjects, which will be explored by several students and researchers for a number of years. Education will also be an important element of the Seaports Academy. There are already courses for offshore wind personnel, and a specialist course about the circular economy has been started up.

Seaports Academy does not provide any courses itself, but tries to match the demand for courses and research from the corporate sector with what is offered by education and research institutes. Seaports Academy focuses on supporting students who are working on their graduation projects, and has traineeships available on a regular basis. There are many opportunities for young people in the area of research, traineeships, and work in the Delfzijl/Eemshaven port and industrial area. Groningen Seaports also has regular vacancies for permanent and temporary jobs, as well as places for traineeships and graduation projects.
