Beatrixhaven
Beatrixhaven is 1,200 metres long with a width of 110 to 150 metres and a depth of 9 metres compared to LAT. A ferry service to the German Wadden island Borkum operates to the north, and next to that a service provider that is mainly focused on provisioning wind farms.
Besides operating a floating jetty with a length of two times 150 metres, the sailings of Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) are also coordinated from the site at Beatrixhaven. On the south side, various logistics businesses operate mainly in the bulk sector (construction raw materials), the offshore wind industry, and ship-generated waste. On the west side, there is a special quay with a length of 220 metres for extra heavy cargo. This heavy-duty cargo quay, with an evenly distributed load-bearing capacity of 30 tonnes/m2, is specifically designed for the storage and transshipment of heavy-duty cargo, such as wind turbine components.
It is also possible for installation vessels to moor just in front of this quay so they can use their own crane. The heavy-duty cargo quay is a public quay operated by Groningen Seaports. Behind the quay, there is a large storage site for wind-turbine components, and cables (approx. 1,200 km per year) are also produced there for wind farms at sea.
