New service provider in Delfzijl and Eemshaven

New service provider in Delfzijl and Eemshaven

Since 15 January a new service provider has been operating in Groningen’s seaports: towage company Port Towage Groningen (PTG). This takes the number of towage companies operating in the ports of Delfzijl and Eemshaven to three. Wagenborg Sleepdienst BV and Int. Sleepdienst v/h F. Bijma have already been operating in the two ports for many years, and Port Towage Groningen, a division of Iskes Towage & Salvage BV, is now also setting out to develop a modern towage service. The demand for towage services is increasing as the activities at the seaports expand.

The new towage company is responding to that growth and sees good prospects for a successful towage company in Delfzijl and Eemshaven. Port Towage Groningen has modern and powerful tugboats, which are even able to handle the Panamax vessels with a draft of 14 metres. The company always has two tugboats available at its location in Eemshaven, and more can be called in if required. The new tugboat ‘Lynx’, built at Damen Shipyards, now has a permanent berth together with tugboat ‘Mars’.
