AkzoNobel reduces CO2emissions by 100,000 tons thanks to new bio-steam facility
Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs Henk Kamp commissions new bio-steam supply from energy company Eneco to AkzoNobel
- AkzoNobel, Eneco and Groningen Seaports have jointly invested around €40 million in the project
- The converted plant delivers twice as much sustainable energy for the same amount of biomass
- An additional 10 percent of AkzoNobel’s energy consumption in the Netherlands now comes from renewable sources, resulting in a reduction of 100,000 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to approximately one billion car kilometres or 12,500 households
- An important investment in terms of making the chemical industry in the north-east of the Netherlands more future-proof
